I tried at least 30 Capture programs to capture still pictures from my DVD
player. I pause my computers DVD player where I would like to capture a
still picture ,but all I ever get is a black captured picture.I had one
software capture program that worked but when my computer crashed I lost it
and cant remember the name of it.I tried many freeware capture programs none
so far work.I am running windows 98se my dvd pc player software is
Ravisent.Is there a software capture program out there that would work.I
google myself and ask Jeeves to death.Thanks in advance;

I use VideoReDo www.VideoReDo.com they have a 30 day free
trial. The still capture feature is under the "Edit" tab.

You can't go too wrong with VDub-MPEG2
Save image sequence (preselect one or more frames in start-stop
fashion)
