cd changer disc read error--help |
|
|
I recently purchased my daughter a used 2000 New Beetle. The car includes
the OEM 6-disc CD changer (made by Panasonic.) The device loads discs from
the magazine, but produces a read error when attempting to play a track. In
fact none of the discs or tracks will play. I'm wondering if simply running
one of those cleaner discs will solve the problem. I will need to purchase
one, which run around $10-15. I wonder though, do they really work? Skipping
is one thing, but is a complete failure to read a disc another? All
comments/suggestions welcome.

I'm sure you already thought of this but...
Did you flip the discs over?

That's actually a good idea. The magazine states which side of the discs
should be facing up, but I'll give it a try. Nothing else has worked. I'll
probably breakdown and pay $10 for one of those cleaner discs because
replacing the whole unit with a used one is expensive. They're selling
between $100-200 on eBay. Thanks. |

I recently posted here and asked for recommendations on lens cleaner
discs, and the few people who did reply all said they're worthless. I
was hoping someone knew of a wet cleaner or some other system, but no
one did.
