Will Samsung ever bring HLP4674W to USA? Some internet resellers r
selling it now, but there's one issue.

I want it w/ 3000:1 contrast rate and 7 segments. Some says that only
the later productions of the model have that features. The earlier
productions have only 2000:1 contrast rate and 6 segments.
Is there any way to verify that the TV has the new features?

Looked at one yesterday at Sound Advice in Orlando. Rep said it had 7
segments. 2 red 2 green 2 blue 1 grey.
He seemed to think the contrast ratio rating is more sales hipe than
anything we could appreciate. It was next to a Sony 43wega 665 model and
the Sami put it so shame as far as black levels. But next to those two was
the Mits 52725, it looked the best. IMO.

MikeG,

The guy from Sound Advice is wrong. The spec sheet clearly states that the
hlp4674 has a 6 segment color wheel:

stonebat,

The HLP4674 is available right now in the US. However, it is not being sold
at stores such as Best Buy and Circuit City. I've seen it at Tweeter
myself. You're going to have to either settle for 2000:1 CR and 6 segment
color wheel or else wait for another model. The pedestal models (HLPxx85)
offer 2500:1 CR and 7 segment color wheel.

Not to argue, I have been following Samsung rear projection in the AVS
Forum, and what 'quotes' from a Samsumg rep said that the earlier production
units did have 6 segment wheels, but the mid run models, xx74 would have 7
segment. This was the reason I asked the SA guy. I did go to another SA
store today in the area, the guy there said 6 segment, 1 red, 1 green, 1
blue and 3 dark greens???? I wish I could find out for sure, perhaps the
ref you linked to is an old pdf or it maybe not.
