Is there a way to play WMV files without using the WMP? I believe that the
Microsoft player is too invasive and I would like to install codecs that
allow me to use other players. Possible? I have W98 SE. Thanks for any help
provided. -

Media Player Classic. It plays everything, even RealMedia. Free.

It doesn't work, it says "failed to render the file". I know that the file
is ok because it played on someone else's computer. Do I need any
particulare codecs? Where do I get them?
Thanks for your help, Gogarty.

Get a program named GSpot and check your file with it. GSpot will tell you

what codecs you have and what you need to run the file.

Sometimes I notice that Media Player Classi will complain that it can't find
pins or whatever and then will play the file anyway.
