Stand-Alone DVD recorder and PC editing DVD-Ram or DVD-R/W |

I presently use my TW Digital Video recorder to record programs from
the TV. I then record the program to my S-VHS VCR. Then I capture the
VCR tape to my computer with Ulead Movie Factory, burning it to a
DVD+R disc.
I want to do the same thing but by substituting a stand-alone DVD
recorder in place of the VCR. I want to edit out commercials and burn
to a DVD+R disc.
Most of the DVD recorders use the DVD-Ram format to copy the program,
but none of the PC DVD burners will read DVD-Ram.
I see the newest DVD recorders will burn to a DVD-R/W disc.
Anyone have experience with these burners?
Also, while the disc is burning, is it automatically multi-plexed to
the DVD format on the DVD-R/W disc?
My main goal is to take whatever disk is burned with the stand-alone
unit and edit it with the PC.
