Are there set-top players that have better sampling rates than others?

It seems that towards the inside of the disk (end of the movie), there is
lot's of corruption, kinda like the DVD player can't sample fast enought
towards the center.

If this is an issue, what players sample DVD-R's better than others?

I've had good luck for DVD-R with
Panasonic and Sony players,
not as good with Pioneer.
Junk brands may or may not be OK
Sample-rate specs may not tell you
which player is better. Overall
design seems to be more important.

The brand of blank DVD-R matters
(of cheaper ones, recent Princo white-
top (not printable) worked well -
Rima.com is good source). TDK and
Verbatim DVD-R in stores worked
well.

Also try burning at slower speeds
(1x or 2x, depending on your burner).

Good luck.

Add JVC to that list. JVC players play dvd-r flawlessly. and i agree. 1x
or 2x
burning works best for playing dvd-r
in most players.

The disk plays from the centre out.
