[Tabernacle]

Okay now that DVD recorders have finally come down to under the
$250.00 mark (at Wal Mart anyway) I am now starting to look closely at
the current models out there (in that price range) and so far from
what I have found out on my own I have narrowed it down to a choice of
one out of three models which I hope to learn more about before I
purchase one sometime on or shortly after July 4th!

Okay the first one is the Sanyo DRW-500 (+R/RW) going for $248.00

The second model is the Emersen EWR10D4 (-R/RW) going for $224.00

And the third and final model is the Aspire AD-8091 (+R/RW)

Any help on the Pros and the Cons on these models from anyone who has
purchased one would be very appreciated by me!

Boy one thing is for sure (regardless of which brand I end up picking)
that when I do buy a DVD Recorder I am DEFINITELY going to spend the
extra $29.00 for that Walmart 2 year "Keep it New" service plan!

MAN it looks like I am going to hold off buying that DVD Recorder
until maybe the end of the year (unless a higher priced model suddenly
drops in price or gets put on sale for some obscenely low price in
some store) as all them lower priced models I was interested in have
turned out to be not so hot!

The DRW-500 seems to be the only one that works OK (most of the time),
although it seems to be "Feature Poor" so unless it drops to well
below the $200.00 mark forget it!

As for the others the Aspire model AD-8091 seems to have a lot of bugs
in it (and the instruction manual is simply the WORST as it seems to
be in somekind of Half Assed Chinesespeak) while the EWR10D4 seems to
be Pure JUNK!

Also I learned from talking to the sales clerk in the electronics
department (at my local Walmart) why they had no Cyberhome 1500's on
the shelf, and he told me that everyone they had sold had been
returned, and that they had pulled them from the store! Wonder if this
was just in that store? Or if they are having the same problems with
the 1500's stocked in all the other Walmart stores?
