This is the problem:

I have to convert some home vhs tapes to dvd format for a friend.
Apparently he's going to give these as Christmas gifts. I successfully
converted them to VOB but I would like to put a splash screen and some
chapter markings along with the appropriated link. I don't like the
software that came with the gadget I have that converted the vhs to
dvd. The menu routine is way to involved and take too much time for
what I want to do.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on this. Just something very
simple will do.

Any suggestions.

From vhs how did you get the VOB?
I only managed to get one MPG2 file and that is too big to fit on one DVD.

If using XP Windows Movie Maker comes free with it. Don't know it's full
capabilities. Check MS Updates for most recent version.

You can do a google, or goto videohelp.com and look there for authoring
guides.... pick the software that looks the easiest by reading several
of their guides...

I personally use DVD-Lab...
