cd problems |
|
|
I have a music cd that I made from various wave files and I have played this
cd many mnay times. It is now starting to "stick" on some tracks and I have
to manually skip to the next track.
I also bought a music cd of a braodway show and have played that a lot. It
is now starting to "stick" on 2 tracks.
Both cds are clean and are not scratched. They show the same behaviour on
several different cd players, both attached to pcs and as part of a stereo
set.
Can anyone tell me what is going on? Are the cds just wearing outdue to
excessive use? The same cd players play other cds I have bought and made
myself without any problems.
Thanks
Chris

Normally this is a problem with the player, and not the disc, provided the
disc is clean and undamaged.

Thanks for your reply.
I can't see the player(s) as a problem as they play all other discs I have.
I have carefully cleaned the "faulty" discs and can see no evidence of
damage to them.

I have had some CDRs and some shop-bought CDs 'rot' after about 5 years.
The label side attains a browny hue on CDRs, and just starts to flake
away on shop-bought CDs.

Sometimes cheap discs deteriorate, especially under certain environmental
conditions. Like if left out in a car in the sunlight for example.
