There are many "flavors" of the divX codecs: divX, Xvid and a few others.

It's dealer's choice, so to speak.

The Divx 5.2 codec which I'm using offers MPEG & H264 as the ONLY
choices.

mpeg-4 ASP

H264 is still in the starting block. See www.megif.org white paper.
DVD standalone player will be available around middle 2005.
