Sony DVDirect |

This new Sony device is a freestanding DVD burner that (In addition to use
as an external DVD Writer for a PC) can operate independently of a PC to
record anaolgue video to DVD in MPEG2 format. Costs less than $300US.
I can only fond its details on the Sony USA site which says it is NTSC
only. Does anyone know if it is/will be available for PAL?
Alternatively, are there any pointers to some other manufacturer's similar
DVD or Digital8/MiniDV tape at similar cost unit that supports PAL?
What I want to do is extend the life of my Canon EX1-Hi8 analogue camcorder
(PAL version of the US NTSC L1 - the original XL1/XL1s/XL2 digital
camcorder's forerunner) because of its fantastic lens system, at least
until HD is prevalent and more cost effective.
