Every time I run this program (v3.2) it will analyse files OK but it
freezes my computer part way through an encode. Anyone else have this
problem? Have run a memory test.

Although Shrink sets itself (optionally) to a lower CPU priority when
"encoding" there are definitely issues in the programming that
circumvent the XP OS' distribution of prioritized time slices. I
find, if running Shrink as a background task, foreground tasks come to
a virtual standstill until Shrink is paused.

This is insignificant, if operating from a source DVD, as the I-O
requirements to the slow media serve to interrupt Shrink's intensity.
When running from HD, it's virtually impossible to set it as a well
behaved background task.

Shrink behaves best, when running from HD, if it runs alone.

I tried a later version of DVDShrink and kept getting an error message
when attempting to back up the disc. I settled with ver.3 Beta 5. No problems
there.

Thanks BJ, but I have been running it as the sole application ...
perhaps there is a process running that is causing the crash.

Go back to 3.1.7
3.2 is a buggy version to me.
