I am a noob in audio manipulation stuff.

Recently, I tried to convert an Realmedia file (*.rm) to microsoft
video format (*.avi). (Using EO Video 1.36)

When the source file was played in native player (RealOne player), the
volume of the video clips is good.

But the encoded AVI clips sound really soft, but when I opened the
volume control panel, and shift the channel balance, both individual
left and right mono channel sound at least 2x-4x louder than the
stereo output.

I always believe that the left and right channel will produce a merged
stereo of equivalent sound volume. Instead, the stereo become softer?
Why is it so?
