Re: Problem with DVP642 and subtitles |

Sometimes subtitle files are not the correct format, even though they have
the correct file extension. Try opening a problem subtitle file using
Subtitle Workshop and then save as sub rip to create a srt file. This
player will read rewritable cds so you can experiment with different files
until you get it to work right. When you put the cd in the player, select
the subtitle file and press subtitle, then select the avi file and press ok.
The movie should start to play with the subtitles. Selecting a different
aspect ratio or subtitle mode made no difference for me -- the subs showed
exactly the same regardless. The subs display as small white characters
within the video, I doubt if they would display below your screen.
Good luck

I've been trying to play xvid movies with subtitles
Subtitle files (I tried both .srt and .sub) show up in the menu with
the little text icon so I guess the player understand them. When I
select one with the subtitle button I get the message "divx sub title
selected"
However I haven't managed to actually see a subtitle.
I've tried movies in 1.85:1 format encoded with xvid 1.02. Both .sub
and .srt seem like they can be selected but don't appear once I play
the movie.
I tried to flip through the various subtitle modes (subtitle 1/1,
encoding latin etc...) with no luck.
I haven't tried divx. I haven't tried formats other than 1.85:1, yet.
I have a 4/3 TV set and I use the 4/3 PS TV format under the video
preferences. Could it be that the subtitles are displayed 'below the
TV'?
Any thoughts?
Thanks! |
