OK. A very terse and non-informational comment...but hey, I get pissed
off too.

Anyway, without knowing more about your operating system and encoder
software noone is going to be able to help you. Lighten up, give us
some useful information, and see if someone can help.

I've run into this, from time to time, in many versions of Divx 5.*

Seldom, when trying the same file additional times, has the failure
occurred again in the same place (tho sometimes it has).

Yes, I guess it's a bug - perhaps an old one?

To some degree, I figure the bug is in the interface to the delivery
program (I use both FlaskMPEG & VDub-MPEG2) in some cases it is
perhaps in the encoder logic.

On a percentage basis, having done many divx 5.* conversions, this
crops up far less than 5% of the time. In some cases, switching
delivery programs has worked, in some cases reinstalling either the
delivery program or the codec has helped, and as a last resort -
switching to xvid has helped. In no case tho, am I convinced that the
change I made actually solved the problem??

I bought divx 5.02 some time back and it has been updated, free of
charge, ever since. Considering the number of conversions I've done
it was money well spent. And when a new version acts up, I can always
drop back to the last version until the glitch is fixed.

I've never encountered a crash problem when using the last Linux divx
library released (5.01)...of course divx won't respond to my requests
for information about whether they intend to continue to support linux
and they have removed or made it very hard to find the linux library
on their website.
