Is there a video player software out there that can adjust brightness
(or gamma) for playback?? I have many Xvid flics that are way too dark
on the computer screen.

I read something about adjusting FFDShow brightness, but I can't find
the option anywhere. I'm not asking about encoding, just wanna play
back the vids I already have.

Thanks for your help!

I haven't used it myself, but apparently Nostra DivX Player can adjust
brightness and contrast: http://www.nostradivx.com/why.html

Your TV set should be able to do that.

From my experience, it sounds like you may be in the market for a new
monitor. They only last a couple of years.

I agree with the tv adjustment. I use The Core Media Player a lot and WMP 9
for my divx/xvid on my pc. Some movies I adjust via the programs, sometimes
the tv. It depends on the movie really. At times I find the tv is the
simplest way to adjust the brightness.

I also convert from DVD to DVD-r and play on a standard DVD player. It
will appear dark with the factory made one or the DVD-r one I made. Again,
the tv adjustment is the best in that case.

There is only one adjustment for the tv, versus several adjustments on the
pc to get a good picture. Its really a matter of preference.

good luck
