A lame Q: how to watch avi full screen on a NTSC TV via S vi |
|
|
Folks: help a lame :(
I had ME installed on my notebook and used to watch avi full screen on
a NTSC TV via S video output. The catch is that you switch to a
secondary display, and then the contents of DIVX screen blows up to TV
when you switch to full sceen in DIVX player.
Now, I upgraded to XP :( I still see a computer screen duplicated to
TV via S video; but the contents of DIVX window is black always, and I
can't find a way to switch displays.
If anybody knows a hint how to watch avi on a TV monitor full screen,
please, please...
[I know about low resolutions; I even switched to 640x480, which is
not quite obvious under XP]

I'm guessing that you may need updated drivers for your graphics card.
But possibly, the monitor settings simply need to get reset.
Go thru the steps to get the pic and see if that helps:
1) Select Display Properties
2) Settings
3) Advanced
4) Displays
5) Set the TV as primary

This is close, thanks!
However, the problem is that although I have
(Multiple Monitors)on ATI Rage Mobility (IBM)
at the Settings dialog, I have one monitor at the big front picture
only.
And when I press Advanced I have no Displays tab. I have the
following:
General, Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshooting, Color Management.
Interestigly, I have Generic Television in the list of Monitors, but
again, this is crap because my problem is not with sending signal to S
video, but with making TV a primary (you're right!). So, how can I
make TV primary if it's not a "display" at the main Settings screen? I
had no problems under ME, damn it... |

XP drivers are almost always different than older MS OSes. Look for
an ATI update. After that, I'm outta ideas:-(

Looks to me like you are running the generic ATI drivers from
WindowsXP. Goto the ATI web site and look for drivers specific to your
video card or card family for XP. Many of the special features will be
added back with the correct driver.
If the video card is not supported by ATI in XP then you might want to
try the drivers from your ME install disk. Many times this will work.
