I asked this question on some other groups but I'm not having muck luck.

I'm having a hard time choosing between these two cabinets. I always
enjoyed the sound of the older 2x15+2inch horn configuration yorkville
used for so long.

The main spec differences between these cabinets are,

u215:
130 spl
Horn in the middle of the cab
1600 prog.
60x60 coverage

e2152:
132 spl
Horn in the top part of cab
1500 prog.
90x40 coverage

I play in all different sized rooms with a range of 200 (small club) to
800 people (hotel ballroom) so I'm concerned with the spl and coverage.
I don't want to array multiple cabinets just one top per side on a 2x18 sub.

Is 60x60 enough?

I always have my horn at least 8 feet so it don't take the head off the
audience. The u215's horn would be at 6 feet. Will the horn in the u215
be too low if it's put on top of a 2x18 sub?

Thanks,
Steve

I've heard the U215 is the best sounding speaker they make, period. I use
SPL Trik Traps, and have done side by side comparisons, and it is a fine
sounding speaker, probably the best in it's price range.

How's that?

I've heard the U215 in a tent atop an EAW BH800. It was high enough on top of
the BH's..the U215 were WAY too much top for the subs...natural mid/high
reproduction.

The 90x40 would be better for a small venue. The narrower 60deg horn
will throw sound farther for larger rooms.

Deffinitly an issue. The middle horn on the U215 would be too low.
Also, due to the tall, skinny nature of the cabinet, I'd be a bit concerned
about stability too.

Thanks guys for your help. I think I'm going with the e2152 for the horn
hight and ease of just having one cab per side not to mention the spl.

Thanks,
Steve

Something to note with the 215 and Unity gear from SPL, the horn coverage is
much, much more even over the defined pattern, so they tend not to sound
spotty or hot(up close).

Best regards,

John
