I have a Pioneer A06/106D flashed with (I believe) the latest firmware
(v1.08). It burns +R/-R media at 4x yet only burns 4x rated +RW/-RW media
at 2.4x. Is this correct? Anyone know if it is possible to burn +RW/-RW
media at 4x with this drive?

No.

The pioneer 106 won't go faster than 2.4x on re write dvd blanks.
Buy a 107 or 108 to burn faster.
