|
|
I have a film (Star Trek-The motion picture) on VCD, spread over 2 discs and
I'd like to put it onto one DVD-R. does anyone know how I can do that?

join.

the glitch would be no worse than changing discs! just convenient to have on
one disc!

Still not much point in copying a presumably pirate VCD pair to DVD if the
DVD is readily available elsewhere. Waste of a disc IMO

No...it's not a pirate disc. It's a legal release from Asia (where VCD is a
popular format) |

You must either have messed up eyes or messed up mind, because even the
VCD quality isn't as good as DVD quality, but it about the best TV quality.
You didn't waste your time before you have money to buy a DVD player, and I
don't expect you watch news in DVD quality <g>. |

A purchased VCD is often said to be "TV quality". The many VCD formatted
downloads on Usenet are usually of lesser quality.
Quality will not improve in the conversion to DVD, and it's time-consuming.
So why bother?
If you must copy, just copy it as a VCD. Easier, and much faster. |

Even with a very good VCD (not SVCD) encoded from DVD source, when the
picture has fine parallel lines (eg net curtains, blinds etc) it looks very
poor IMO. Well below "TV Quality" (whatever that means). Before this thread
I've head it said VCD is akin to VHS quality, but the phrease "TV Quality"
is non-sensical in this context, to me. Most of us can spot the different
between a DVD and a shrunk film (eg 60-70% compression), on a normal TV (eg
colour graduations, smoke etc), and these are often far superior to VCDs.
so the previous posters mention of TV quality doesnt make sense to me.

I am saying VCD quality is better than normal TV quality. Unless you
download some messed up VCD then it's another story. |

Easy way is dvdSanta. Just add the mpeg file (multiple ok) and go. |
dvdSanta can even burn the complete compilation. Of course it's GIGO
as for viewing quality. |
