So I went to a hacking site was able to turn my DVD player into a region 2
player. But Istill can't see the picture right on my TV set. What else
must I do?

I waant to play a PAL DVD on my DVD player and be able to watch it on my TV
set. Or at least make a DVD copy of it that will play on my region 1 DVD
player.

Check whether your TV set is capable of displaying a PAL signal -
region-hacking only unlocks the player, it doesn't convert the picture to
NTSC.

You need a PAL-compatible TV (quite uncommon in the US) or a DVD
player that can convert PAL to NTSC on the fly (not too hard to find).
Examples of DVD players that can do this are my 2001-era Apex AD-600A
or the new (and excellent) Philips DVP642.

Note that you should specify PAL vs NTSC when you're talking about R2
discs, because Japanese discs are R2 and use NTSC, whereas UK/European
discs use PAL.
