Bootable floppy: Your OS probably provides this option.
If not, go to

http://www.bootdisk.com/

and follow their hints. Their first choice looks like the right one,
but I'm too lazy to research that any further at this time, so
you're on your own :-)

Extract to floppy: your unzip program would let you do that, if you
follow the prompts. But otherwise, you can do as you said, just copy
the extracted files from where they are now to the floppy (AFTER you
make it bootable!).

You may have to get into your BIOS to set your computer up to boot
from a floppy. Try booting first...only if it fails to try to boot
from the floppy do you need to worry about this.

If it tries to boot from the floppy but doesn't succeed, then either
you made a mistake in making the floppy, or you chose an
incompatible boot image from the bootdisk site, but your BIOS
settngs are OK.

Gino

thanks gene.

what i did finally do,
is create a bootable floppy disk in the 'format' mode.

then i added files from zip.

rebooted and went to 'a' drive in dos mode and
typed

'update.bat'

and it worked.

to all developers, please give specific instructions,
as if you were writing a program.

that way there will be little room for error.

thanks,
