Just waiting on delivery of my new tv . Can anyone help me make a
decision on which set top box to buy. I like the pana for the only
reason so we can use the same remote.

cheers in advance

Are you sure you can use the same remote? I do not see any TV controls on
the remote whatsoever.

The TEAC seems to be getting the best review and at $499 at the Good Guys is
also the best priced. I have a Toshiba s-25 with my 200a TV, and highly
reccomend it, although not nearly as good value as the Teac.

Hi All

I have the Panasonic HD STB (TU-HDT104A) and have not had a second of
drama with it.

I thought i mustve had the wrong box when i read all the bad reviews on
DTV forum about it. The main reason i bought it was that the place i
bought it (DJs) had a cupla brands but pana was the only one i
recognised.

Setup was easy...perfect picture and great sound. The only thing i
would say is that it likes a good antenna. I tried it with an indoor
antenna and was a nightmare (picture freezes when a phone rings) so
plugged it into the external antenna and has not had a picture freeze
or sound drop-out once.

So yes a lotve people mustve had problems with this box judging by the
post on that forum but i would also assume that a lotve people have
bought it and it worked perfectly for them

If you are going to buy it just make sure you buy it from a mainstream
retailer that has a decent returns policy so if you get a bad one you
can take it back :)

With regards to teac most of their stuff is cheap and nasty and now
suddenly theyve got the worlds greatest hd setup box? Sorry me being
cynical :)

As a rule of thumb I would not purchase anything TEAC, but from the reports
on here and www.dtvforum.info, where an actual representative of TEAC posts
information about their products, and also the fact that it was mentioned
they did beta testing on many brands of HD sets seems they are serious about
the quality of their DTV products.

I do not own a teac STB, but I would certainly be willing to give them a
try.
