Sorry for the newbie question, but I have a large DVD collection that I
would like to convert to Divx or AVI. Most of the other questions I read
here were for the opposite conversion. I need to shrink the file size as I
can get about 7 movies onto a DVD-R. I will be taking them offshore to view
on my laptop and space and luggage weight are a BIG concern. Too much
weight and / or too large luggage means your stuff doesn't go on the
helicopter, and then who knows when it gets out to you. If it ever does.
Anyway, enough moaning about my dilemna. Can anyone steer me in the right
direction?

TIA,

Paul

Get CladDVD.net3.5 (free) and DrDivX ($49).
CladDVD rips the DVd into one large vob file - DrDivX converts to DivX.
The conversion is very straightforward, but takes time, even on a fast
computer. CladDVD offers free templates that work with DrDivX.

Are you aware that DivX movies will only play on a computer with a DivX
Player or on the currently limited range of DVD players that play DivX?
