I'm so new to copying DVD's, that I haven't even bought the PC yet.
However I do have a lot of old home videos (ie wedding, kids growing
up etc) that I wish to copy onto DVD for immortality. So can anyone
please advise what PC system I will need to acheive this. I have a JVC
video camera which uses VHS-C tapes and has AV outputs and my VCR also
has AV outputs so I'll need a video card with compatible inputs. My
budget is limited so I can't just go out and buy the latest and
greatest. If I have to spend money, I'd rather it be on the right
component ie video card, RAM, PCU etc. Is AMD Sempron 2400 CPU
suitable or do I need Intel P4.

Thanks in advance.

Ian

If you do not plan to do any editing or want fancy menus a stand alone
(computerless) recorder (ca. $150-300 basic unit) will save you much time
and effort.

Otherwise, a Dell 4600 or equivalent and ADS Instant DVD 2 or Plextor
Convertx external box will be easy to set up and use. The included software
will provide what you need.

I may get flamed here, but I would stick with Intel P4 and Intel chipset
motherboard....more compatability with esoteric hardware.
