looking for album software |
|
|
Sorry - I accidentally attached this to an old thread - here's a repost.
Hi. I'm looking for software which will let me create a standalone
album on a USB jump drive. It should have the ability to display
several sub-albums, with a thumbnail of each sub-album on the opening
page, so that one can choose to look at pictures from 'Terese's
party', 'Ida's Wedding', etc.
Is anyone aware of any software that will do this?

Your original request does seem to be standing by itself, but it has not
received any responses. Maybe no one knows of an answer.

I don't think there is a universal cure-all program to do this.
Some programs, eg thumbsplus, do come very close to providing a decent album
with databased support.
At the mo' I think the only solution seems to be practice based in the sense
that maintaining an image store is sorta funky
From a programmers perspective there will probably be issues associated with
portble, standalone and networked computers having diverging ways of doing
the same job

I don't know if it's possible to run software with autostart from
a USB memory. But why not burn it to a CD and put it in the CD
try? There are lots of programms that will make the layout just the
way you like it to be.
Try this: http://www.photoactions.com/awebpro/
Very easy to handle and will make CD with autorun.

Re: looking for album software |

Thanks for your help, guys. The reason I was looking for a jump drive
solution was that I wanted to create an album my girlfriend could
carry around on her keychain, and show to any friends and family
members she visited.
I now realize that a photo CD, while not as portable, will let them
see the pictures on a large TV screen, so I'm willing to try anything
that will write standalone albums to a CD. I used the Kodak software
yesterday, and it worked fine, except that it doesn't allow for
'chapters' or 'pages' on the opening screen. It's strictly a linear
slide show, showing all pictures in order, unless you pick the
pictures one by one.
I've also looked at Adobe Album and Paint Shop Album, but can't see
that either one of these has this feature.
To repeat, what I am looking for is something that will let me have an
opening screen with a menu of the categories or events of the
pictures, and allow the user to run a slide show, or view manually,
the pictures in a given category, without having to view all pictures
in the album.
