I subscribe to Direct TV. Is it possible to buy a Tivo recorder on Ebay such as a DVR80 or HDVRT2 and record Direct TV broadcasts without setting up the extra tivo service and paying the monthly fee? If so, what features won't I have? If not, are there any similar cheap devices that have Tivo type features which are easily used with Direct TV.
More questions: Can an additional receiver be set up by splitting the signal from the dish and set up without any extra service fees?
