PVR software other than bundled with HP Media Center? |
|
|
I've Googled a bit but haven't found an answer to my question, it
could be I'm not using the proper keywords though.
I bought a HP Media Center PC. It runs Windows Media Center Edition
Service Pack 2.
Included in this bundle is a tuner card. I have it connected to our
satellite box. It works. But... the software is terrible. The user
interface makes me grind my teeth. It's slow. It's clunky. It's
ugly. I'd rather use the standalone recorder to copy from my regular
Echostar DVR to disc and rip the video via DVDShrink etc than use the
software that came with the Media Center edition.
My questions is two-fold, I suppose. How can I determine exactly what
sort of tuner card is in my machine (as Windows reports it is
manufactured by "standard device", not very helpful) and can I use
anything other than the package that came bundled with it?
If I left out any pertinent details, I'll be happy to supply them, I'm
not sure what would be helpful other than the above.
Thanks!
Leigh
