Need Help Recovering MPEG Files |
|
|
I recorded a number of MPEG files using WinTV under XP (FAT32
partition) then accidently deleted them. Since they were too large for
the recycle bin, they were marked for deletion in the usual PC way. I
immediately realized what I'd done and the partition has a lot of
freespace so the OS didn't over-write and data yet and I was able to
"recover" the files with an unerase utility. Unfortunately, none of the
recovered files will play in any player I've tried. Any idea what's
wrong and how I can fix them?

Hi,
The best restore algorithm I've seen is used in Active@ undelete tool.
It worked great for me and always all the restored data was completely
operable. You can try using this tool, that might really help.

try recovering them again with ISObuster or use something like
videoredo's quickstream fix to fix it. |

Hello, please see this page.
http://www.quetek.com/FAT_warning.htm
Unfortunately, fat32 files that were fragmented are *not* recoverable.
If you were lucky, the file may have been in one contiguous extent,
in which case you can probably get them back.
Good Luck! |
