Hello video wizards:

I am trying to include a few scenes from a commercially released DVD in
a video project that I am doing. (Just to be clear, this is for a
non-profit video and they are ~thirty-second clips, so I am confident
it falls under fair use.)

Is there a program I can use to rip sections of the dvd directly into
uncompressed .AVI format? Or must I rip the entire feature into a .vob
and then convert that into .avi?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Fletcher

Just to be clear, nothing you said suggests that what you propose to do is
fair use. Do it or don't do it as you choose, but understand that neither
the fact that you're using 30-second clips, or that the intended use if for
a non-profit video, automatically brings what you're doing within fair use.

Any ideas guys? I am using a dvd recorder to convert my own vhs movies to dvd! Is there any software i can buy to add titles and edit the movie in .vob format so as not to lose the picture quality? doesn't premiere accept .vob files.....as far as i know .vob format is a type of mpeg no? Correct me guys if i'm wrong. thanks a lot.
