just thought I'd share my findings.
all that's required is a second DEQ2496 and a midi cable.
the key is that even when a unit is locked, you can still go to the
utility menu and do a full midi dump. so with another one connected
you can clone it, then wipe out the first one (wiping out the
password) and then clone it back.
hope this is useful to you.
I haven't locked myself out of one, but it saved me the trouble of
having to enter the password when swapping out a bad unit.
