Would anyone have an idea of how I might promote on a professional
level directly to the studios or the artists. I have been back in the
states for about 5 months now and would love any advice.

Thank You,
Cheryl & Michael

A lot depends on what city you are in, and what the local studio scene
is like. 90% of it probably has to do with hanging out with musicians
and getting to know people. In places with an insular studio community
this can be hard, and in other places where there is some flow between
the studio and club folks, it's easier.

You should move to Austin. It seemed like everyone in Austin had a djembe
last time I was there.

In that case, Austin probably already has too many djembe players.
Maybe move to Africa since all their djembe players are coming over
here.

don't forget remote sessions . . . recording in one location for a
studio elsewhere in the world (especially now www.yousendit.com makes
it so easy to send large files for free). Especially as you play
something a little unusual . . . not every town in America will have a
good djembe player, I have had a small degree of success promoting my
high-quality but low cost real string playing/arranging . . . I emailed
every studio I could find on the net (about 4000) which got some
response, and also posted on every music-related forum I could find. It
can work! I have my own website and people can find me there using
search engines too.

good djembe player,

that's because Austin has most of the djembe players on earth. I swear, they
have djembe on the required list of school supplies.
