I would like to buy a 42'' HDTV plasma. What is the best selling model ? Are
the prices supposed to go down after Thanksgiving ?
Thanks for any suggestions.

The last round of MSRP price cuts for the better selling brand names
(Panasonic, Samsung, LG, etc) occurred in late August to early
September. With the price drops, demand for plasmas has been heavy
enough that many people are waiting for their order to ship. Don't
expect any major price cuts outside of short term sales at B&M stores
until January, if then.
I don't know what the best selling mode is right now, but Panasonic
and Pioneer are the most highly regarded mainstream brands. The Fujistu
models which use Panasonic glass are probably the best plasmas, but you
pay a very stiff premium for the Fujistu.
If you really want to read up on plasmas, the plasma/LCD forum at
www.avsforum.com is where many people go.

I recently bought my daughter a Dell 42" plasma HDTV for about $3k. It has
dropped a few hundred dollars since I bought it. Surprisingly, Dell makes a
very nice television. We are quite satisfied with the Dell set. |
