DVD SHRINK problem |
|
|
Every time I run this program (v3.2) it will analyse files OK but it
freezes my computer part way through an encode. Anyone else have this
problem? Have run a memory test.

Hi
Try unticking the preview box, I have had similar problems while
previewing when encoding.

I had the identical problem and went crazy before someone in a forum
came up with the solution.
He suggested taking off the PC cover and checking to see that the
environment wasn't getting too hot.
Well, I took off the cover to check and found that when I had previously
installed a new burner, I had somehow disconnected the plug to the CPU
fan. Plugged it back and never a miss since.
Remember, the CPU runs at 100% while this decoding process is happening....
Good luck....

thanks Bix and Burris. The results are in:
running overclocked CPU temp went from 35 to 55 degrees C within 3
minutes, when the computer crashed.
running at stock speed, temp still went to 54 degrees in 5 minutes
before I paused the encode to allow cooldown, but it did complete @
about 4 Mb/s.
So, it is not the program, but overheating.
Perhaps I will run in low priority mode ( under Preferences) to slow
down encoding. |

low priority does not slow down encoding unless you have other things going
at the same time...if the cpu is idle, Shrink will run at 100%, just like it
should and any other cpu intensive app would |
