73" 1080p TV's |

Any opinions, especially from someone that really owns one? I am looking at
the Mits 73727, but would consider other models that are around the same
size. (I am also posting to the rear projection 1080p thread in the
avsforum, but many folks may read this newsgroup and not that site, and I
want to get as much helpful feedback as possible). I have a five year old
Sony KP-61HS10, so this would be a major upgrade for me.

I am also looking at the same model. Saw a demo of it in a local BB
(Magnolia section), and they gave me a price of $5300, though I have seen it
on line for about $4800.
I have a good friend who's son works at a BB in S. Cal, and he is trying to
get me special pricing on one.
I also hear the Samsung models are really nice. |

I don't think Samsung makes a TV that large. I have more or less narrowed my
search down to the Mits or the Toshiba 72MX195. Both are 1080p sets. I
visited PC Richard today and saw a 70" JVC and Sony, but neither was 1080p.
Mitsubishi also makes the 73827 and 73927. Both add hard drives (160GB and
250GB) and the 927 also has a PC input. I believe the Toshiba has a PC
input, but no hard drive for recording. I already have a HD Tivo, but still
wouldn't mind have another means of recording HDTV shows. PC Richards had
the Mits 73827 for $5700 and the Toshiba for $5k. The 827 and 927 are part
of the 'Diamond' line which is Mits premium line. For me, features are
important, but picture quality is really paramount. The Toshiba costs less
than the Mits models, and I doubt that I will see a real difference in HDTV
picture quality. I'm still trying to sort it all out. What do you think? |
