Hi,

If I don't want ReplayTV 5500 to record live when I turn off my TV but I
want the 5500 to update the channel guide and record the programs I
specified, how do I put the ReplayTV in standby? Just turn it off via
the remote?

TIA,
Dan

When it is off, it just doesn't continue to record live television. It will
still download guide updates when required.

When "off" the Replay will:

% download channel guides (as you said)

% check the downloaded guide for matches to theme channels, and
schedule automatic recording.

% connect to the ReplayTV service for all other purposes

% make previously set up recordings, sending remote commands (IR or
serial) to the appropriate devices.

% communicate with DVArchive.

% allow shows to be played, using another Replay on the network.

% monitor the IR stream for the "power" command.

That's a lot for something called "off".
