directv tivo question |

Does the directv tivo hd 10-250 need a dedicated land phone line? Or can
I use an internet connection for it to function? A networked solution
sort of.....
I think i have convinced myself that the tivo hd10250 is the way to go
to record ota hd programs but I have voip and dont want to re-install a
land phone line.

If the 10-250 is like the other DirecTV TiVos, you need a land line for
the initial setup and that's it. You can unplug it after that.

I have two 10-250's and you are absolutely correct. While Tivo keeps
reminding me that I have not called in, I have now gone about 350 days
without a call, and all is well. However, I do believe you need a land line
for the initial setup. My Tivos are far from a phone jack, so I temporarily
ran a very long phone cord for the initial setup and have not connected it
since then. |

I have my HR10-250 connected to an AT&T VOIP Telephone Adapter
(D-Link DVG-1120M). Works fine, even without Fax and Modem Support enabled.
