[Doghouse Riley]

I have tried attaching three different VCR's with two different coax
cables to the PVR.

Each combination results in a capture file which, when played back on
the PC, has a distortion of about 5% of the screen at the bottom. The
distorted area appears to be horizontally out of sync with the rest of
the picture.

These are home videos and tapes recorded off the air, so I do not
think it's any sort of copy protection.

These are overscan lines, normally hidden on a TV. Every capture card I
have used has this at the bottom of the screen (much less than 5%,
actually). Some capture devices and programs allow you to remove these
lines.

Thanks Alpha, are you familiar with some capture apps that will let me
delete the overscan? The Hauppage factory software does not.
