When I plug my Sony PC101E into my TV using the AV connector I get really
good results displayed on the screen, however connecting to my PC using the
firewire cable the resultant saved files are pretty ordinary results, no
matter how I configure NERO to save them (e.g. no compression, highest
quality) and using the USB connection is even worse.

To solve this problem I have come up with two alternatives.

1. buy a DVD recorder box for my TV, play the video through it and record
straight to the DVD

or

2. Buy a video capture card for the PC and record the video through it.

Does anyone know which is the better option or an alternative solution?

If you believe #2 is the solution, which card would you recommend?
