Hi,
just wondering on what suggestions of sound systems people have for a budget
of around $1000 .. just looking for a nice 5.1 system for home theatre but
not sure what to look at.

Go for a half decent reciever and some fronts that you can use as rears
later. When you get more money add fronts, a centre and sub. Anything else
and you are probably throwing your money away.

Thats a pretty hard price range to work in.

There are some okay all-in-one systems for close to that price, but I
would not recomend any of them.

Does this $1000 include a DVD player or anything else?

Where are you based (eg Sydney or Melbourne).
