Hello All

I have a Ilo DVDR05 standalone recorder. I want to record for 6 hours,
then
remove commercials etc. Would someone please give me the drill on how to
accomplish this. I also have a 2.5Ghz pc with a All in wonder 7500 capture
card
and the software installed and some tools like Sonic MyDVD, Studio 8 etc.to
work with.

There are some of us who won't touch MyDVD, so I'm
not sure how my recommendations will work for you, still.

You could use RW disks in your DVD Recorder, and
bring those to your PC for commercial removal using
www.VideoReDo.com . I save up VideoReDo (VRD)
edited episodes on my hard drive until I have enough
and then just author and burn a new DVD.

I would use at least two RW disks, in your DVD
Recorder, so that you can make a better quality capture.
A three hour setting would capture any regular TV
broadcast. A one or two hour setting would provide
even better results. The down side of this is that you
would need to recompress to get six hours on a new
DVD.

If you can set your DVD Recorder to capture an
hour to ~1020megs, that would be about 730 megs
after the credits & commercials have been removed.
This would be a setting of between 3 1/2 hours and
four hours per RW. Most DVD Recorders have a
four hour setting.

730MB/hour fits six hours on an authored DVD.
This way you can directly author a six hour DVD,
quickly, without having to re-encode. If it is a little
too large, (as it could be on occasion using the better
VBR encoding) then just run the authored DVD (on
your hard drive, before its burned) through
DVDShrink.

I would also consider getting a real authoring program
like TDA www.pegasys-inc.com or DVD Lab
www.mediachance.com .

Luck;
Ken
