What is the correct way to connect symetrix sx202 balanced/unbalanced
(1/4" TRS) outputs with unbalanced FMR RNC inputs to prevent possible
grounding problems? Should be the ring on TRS connected to ground on TS
side or left unconnected?

Just use a single conductor shielded (unbalanced) cable with T-S plugs
on both ends. Plug it in. No problems.
