I will soon be in the market for a new mini-dv camcorder, given that my
Canon ZR10 is now eating tapes. I've been to Best Buy and Circuit City
to see some models in person, and I've read some reviews on sites like
camcorderinfo.com. Nothing out there right now seems to jump out at me
and make me excited to buy it. I read about poor low light performance,
color problems, lack of features/connectivity, etc., mostly in the
$400-$800 models, and I wonder if there are any updated models on the
horizon? Will the holiday season bring in a new crop of camcorders from
several manufacturers? Are manufacturers focusing their efforts on the
DVD models, rather than the mini-dvd models?

As you can see by my use of the ZR10 for the past 6 years, I don't have
extreme needs. I'd like to have similar features and connectivity (e.g.
s-video, firewire), and hopefully dv pass-through.

One last question: Is the reviewer at camcorderinfo.com on the
Panasonic payroll? :-) His panasonic reviews are absolutely glowing,
and frankly, I wasn't really blown away by the GS250 when I saw it at
Best Buy.

Thanks!
Gary

A hard drive model is what I was thinking would be the
way to go, also. I wish they were making some with
removable drives though.

Luck;
