Hello. I Have a 89 fire bird that now has a fitted premade box
holding 2 12in JL audio W1 speakers in it . It is powered by a JL
250/1 channel amp bridged . My deck is a new panasonic 5.5 volts
coming out the RCA cables . I was just in a SPL competition this past
weekend and i lost to an old old crossfire 32/2 pushing a MTX 15 in
dual voice coil at 2 oams at each coil (I think that brought him down
to 1/2 oam ). Ok what i want to do is fiberglass the back of my car in
so i can rum bigger and better speakers and posably go to a phinox golg
amp .... but i dont know .. I cant seam to find any amps that can
match that crossfire in the 1/2 oam load and what would be the best
speaker i can get????
any sujestions?????? please Email me your thoughts Thanks

if you want to win the comp, i'd suggest put more money into your system.
2ohm coils could be wired to 4 or 1 ohm, i'm guessing he was running at 1

All i can say is more speaker and more power. I've heard great things about
digital designs subs, and get a few thousand watts to them, i'm sure you'll
kill the MTX. Of course i thinik they're about $1000/sub. RE XXX seems to
be a fan favorite witht he MT being more comp oriented. I know a guy that
runs 10" orions and i think he's above 145s IIRC,

the prefab box is definately holding you back, but i don't know if i'd do
fibergalss for a comp install. Until you become good with the glass i'd
just do bigger MDF ported boxes. You should get a noticeable increase in
output.

also how are your subs wired? you said you have a 250/1 channel amp bridged?
if i understand you right you have a one channel amp but how are you
bridging it?

your subs should get no more than 250 each according to JL's site but i
don't see what the voic coil configs are? Are yours dual voice coils or
single? i see that there are 4 or 8 ohm options, so i'm guessing you have
single 4s wired parallel to 2ohms . Which i just noticed doesn't matter
cause your amp does 250w from 1.5-4 ohm. Your first upgrade could be simple
new boxes that are ported and another 250 amp to put on the other sub. That
should give you a good gain in output.
