I have been using Pinnacle Studio 9.5 plus for making DVDs and it worked
fine for my first few projects. Now... using the same everything (camera,
settings, etc) it just hangs up when trying to render for making a DVD. It
is frustrating and from what I read here, a common problem with Pinnacle.
It seems like Premiere Pro is liked a lot... but I can't afford the $700
price. Are there any good programs that is more reliable than Pinnacle and
less expensive than Premiere? (A LOT less expensive)
All I wish to do is to capture (using firewire), simple editing, add some
chapters and output to DVD. It would also be very nice (but I could live
without it) if I could make an uncopiable DVD as well. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

Hi Sandra. Sorry to hear about your problems with Studio, which is only
one product in the Pinnacle line. Many broadcasters use Pinnacle
products with great success. The same in the event videography group.
Have you asked your question in the Studio forum on Pinnacle? A wealth
of information, and they might have an answer for you.

I'm still interested in other programs that are recommended by people who
use them. I don't totally buy into all the hype of advertisement.

If basic stuff is all that you are looking for, WMM (Windows Movie
Maker) and the software with your DVD burner should be enough.
