I was messing around with a macro lens, and got the adapter ring
stuck hard on the camera.. I've tried all the obvious ways
(plastic lid opener, those black belt type didnt work). Only have
about 1/8 inches to grab onto.

Anyone else ever had this stupid accident happen to them?

I use a flexible rubber drain plug for this -- it's a flat, textured,
flexible piece of thin rubber that I got at a home improvement store. It's
intended as a bathtub drain stop, but it works great for gripping filters
and retaining rings.
