I got some photo paper and printed a photo. The paper was nice and
glossy when it was blank, but when the ink was printed, it looked like
it was printed on regular paper. What am I doing wrong? I did not see
any settings in "Preferences" that would help. I printed it from
Photoshop, if that matters. Please help!

Thanks,

Peter

Hi...

If he still hasn't found it; what he might consider doing is tell us
the printer type and model - then whichever of us has the same can
offer more specific step-by-step help.

Take care.

You have to set the paper type in the printer driver. You should see a
printer setup button at some point between when you select "Print" in
Photoshop and the image starts printing.

Might you have printed on the back side, this is pretty easy to do.

Thanks for your response, David. I did look for that, but I guess I'll
look harder!

Hmmm, this paper was white on the side I printed and said photo paper
on the other. Would it be something I have to peel off?

Nope, sounds like you have it the right way around.

Whoa! Photo paper is for inkjets. I'm surprised your laser printer
didn't do unpleasant things with the coating.

There should be one. I can't see HP selling a printer without a
photo paper setting. *Maybe* you should check the HP website to
see if there's an upgraded driver for that printer.

HP's site has "HP Color Laser Glossy Photo and Imaging Paper"
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF13a/18972-236251-236268-15077-236268-74301.html?jumpid=oc_R1002_USENC-002_HP%20Color%20LaserJet%204600%20Printer&lang=en&cc=us#1997025
but it's a color laser, so there might not be an actual setting for
it.

No, Peter, the paper I gave a link for is specifically for HP color
lasers. That's why it's called "HP Color Laser Glossy Photo and
Imaging Paper."

Hence the problem. LaserJet's are not designed to use any photo paper!
Plain paper varieties only. Photo papers are for inkjet or phot
printers only. In fact, I would think that photpapers could caus
significant damage to the fuser in this printer.
