Hallo All,

I was able to purchase the above lens used, but the previous owner did not
have the manual. If anyone has the manual can you scan it and then post to
this thread, so I can download it. Nikon does not have lens manuals on the
website. They are however photocopying it and mailing it to me. I would
like to read it because there are several switches and button/rings on it,
and I can figure them out, but would like to have the pictures and
descriptions of them.

Thank you in advance. If I have it set correctly, I took some shots tonight
of the moon and if any turned out good I will post them.

Monty

They sucked from the standpoint of I saw detail in the viewfinder, but the
finished product was just a white blob, in focus but a white blob.

I never did get good ones.

will play around with that, it will be there for a while.

Huh.. How do you set the ISO incorrectly for a moon photo ??

In what way do your moon shots suck ?

Not much to the manual, I can tell you that.

The VR switch is "On" or "Off." You turn it off when the camera is on a
tripod or monopod. Otherwise you leave it on. This is different than
the VR on some other lenses, where you might leave the VR on when on a
monopod.

The autofocus ring has M and A, obviously. The silver button locks the
ring at the L on one or the other of these two in case you are
accidentally afraid of changing it. When in M you can focus manually
and it overrides the A/M switch on the camera.

The focus limit switch is "Full" and "Limit." At full focus the
autofocus will search the full focus range of the lens in order to find
the focus. Switching it to "Limit" limits the focus search to half the
focus range, the idea being that it will find the focus more quickly.
In this lens (and not some others), which half depends on where the
focus was when the button was set, which can be kind of annoying.

The zoom and aperture rings work as normal on this lens, but the manual
cautions you against getting you fingers pinched while zooming with
this lens. In fact, it is very easy to do that.

The orange L switch locks the aperture ring at f32, which is where it
has to be if you are going to use it on any of Nikon's newer cameras
where the camera controls the aperture, even in manual mode.
