I have a Dish DVR 625 and I'd like to add a DVD recorder to save some
of the shows I record. But I've read that HBO now puts out copy
protection in their signal that allows their shows to only be recorded
once, in this case to the hard drive. After that I can't copy from
the DVR to a DVD-R. Is this true, or are the some DVD Recorder models
that don't see the copy protection?

Maybe you could overcome this restruction by recording via an analogue
output, if there is one.

This is via the analog output. The copy protection is encoded on the
analog signal.

You might find the following URL helpful. It will take you to the DVR 625
User's Manual.
