The Nov. "Consumer Reports" piece on HDTV's predicts another $500 or
so price drop on 38" and larger direct LCD and rear projection DLP
sets by spring 2006. I just wonder if most of you agree with that
prediction.

Not just DLP projection, but LCD and LCoS RP as well. And they're getting
better. I think within a couple of years you'll see smaller HDTVs (say the
42-46 inch entry-level ones) not much more than $1000 U.S., like CRT PRs are
now. Technologies have their time, and I think that HDTV is just about
there.

I think that's reasonable. HDTV is overpriced.

The 32" LCD's have dropped from ridiculous to merely expensive the
past six months.

I'd expect the same thing to happen in the progressively larger sized
screens eg the 37 and 42" sizes.
